hiatus

i am taking a wee blogging breakie this week in order get a bit more organized around here. my environment and to-do lists are getting out of control! in the meantime i want to introduce you to my friend, jen who is a professional organizer and single-handedly helped me through our move away from the big mountain last year. we sold our house quickly and easily because of her expert organizing skills. thank you, sister!! we are gearing up to vacation in lovely hana, maui in a couple of weeks and i'm putting those crazy lists together as well. this will be miles first airplane ride and our first time away for such a long time. send me baby travel tips if you've got some good ones. i promise to be back and more attentive than ever- shortly. go look in the mirror and say-"you rock!", cause ya do. serious mischief will befall you if you don't...

Take many deep breaths my lovely. :)
Living in Alaska we have to take lots of plane trips to visit friends and family - can't exactly get in the car and drive, unless you want to take off a month just for travel! So far, our little dude has been on 18 planes (3 planes one way, 3 back for each trip) and he's only (almost) nine months old. I would say try to travel at night if possible, so that Miles will sleep through most of it. Bring a few toys to keep him busy. I hear the portable dvd players are a good distraction... but I haven't tried them. Give him something to suck on during take offs and landings (breast, bottle, pacifier). And the biggest thing for me, was to just keep organized. I kept a backpack for all of our personal items, and baby stuff, and organized it so that everything I needed frequently would be quickly at hand. Good luck! Your trip sounds like it will be awesome.
